Where do I start

Hiring a skip is not as diffucult as many people think, and we at Campbell Skip Hire have nearly 30 years of experience in providing expert advice to our industrial clients and the general public.

There are a few things to consider when hiring a skip:

a. The type of materials going into the skip





b. How much you have to be taken away





c. Where you would like the skip to be situated








d. When you would like the skip to be delivered

There are several items we are unable to take away for you:
ASBESTOS OR TOXIC WASTE, FRIDGES, FREEZERS,
CAR TYRES, TELEVISIONS, COMPUTER MONITORS - most of these you can arrange collection of with your local Council.

This will determine which size skip you will require, either a Mini Skip or a Large Skip. For instance if you are throwing away an old bathroom suite or kitchen, it is more than likely that you are going to need a large skip, 6 cubic yards or more.

You have two options for your skip - you can either have it placed somewhere on your own property (i.e. on your driveway), or on the Public Highway. The local council require permission for skips to be situated on the Public Highway, and so a permit has to be applied for. We do that for you, but the council charge for the permit, so do bear in mind that you will have an additional cost of between 15 - 25, depending on the council charge in your area. The Council also ask for 2-3 working days notice for the permit.

You will need to think about when it is most convenient to have your skip delivered. For example, if you have workers or builders arranged to start work on a Wednesday morning, it it most probably best to arrange for the delivery of your skip on the Tuesday, so that it is there and ready for loading from the beginning of the day.
